How to add eBay's General Product Safety Requirements to your listings using Ad-Lister

How to add eBay's General Product Safety Requirements to your listings using Ad-Lister

Introduction

eBay’s new General Product Safety Requirements are designed to protect buyers by ensuring products meet safety standards and provide clear hazard disclosures. Compliance with these regulations not only helps sellers avoid penalties or listing removal but also builds trust and transparency with customers.
As an eBay seller, incorporating these safety details into your listings is crucial, especially if your products include hazardous materials or require specific safety labels. Ad-Lister simplifies this process by enabling you to add and update safety information across multiple listings efficiently.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps to add eBay’s General Safety requirements to your listings using Ad-Lister, ensuring your account remains compliant and your customers stay informed.

What does this mean for sellers?

Quote
"To comply with the GPSR and related regulations, all business sellers listing items for sale in the EU and NI must include the following information:

  1. The product manufacturer's name and contact information
  2. If the manufacturer isn’t located in the EU or NI, you’ll have to indicate an EU-based Responsible Person or entity, along with their name and contact details
  3. Any relevant product information like model number, pictures, and type
  4. Product safety and compliance information like warnings and safety information (which can be included in labels and product manuals) in the local language
The CE marking when required by the related regulations applicable to your product.
We’ve introduced new functionality so it’s easy for you to add this information to your listings, and ensure compliance with the regulation when it takes effect later this year. To add manufacturer and EU Responsible Person details to your listings either individually or in bulk, follow the step-by-step instructions on our Regulatory contacts page. For instructions on how to upload product safety information and documents, check out our Help page."

How to add eBay's General Product Safety Requirements to your listings using Ad-Lister

I. Setting up the GPSR templates

1. Log in to your Ad-Lister account.
2. Navigate to the Listings --> Regulatory templates and click on Add template (located on the top left of the screen).
Here you can set up the regulatory template with all the required safety information (Product Manufacturer, Product Safety/Hazmat Information, Product Documents and information regarding the Responsible Person) - the template can be set up to be a general template for a Brand or a Type of Product and you can specify this in the template's name.
  • Identify the safety information fields required by eBay (e.g., hazardous materials disclosure, safety labels).
  • Enter the necessary data, such as:
    • Warnings: Include any mandatory safety warnings.
    • Labels: Provide accurate labeling information (e.g., “Contains small parts, choking hazard”).
    • Additional Notes: Specify any compliance certifications if applicable.

Once you're done with setting up the template, you can click Save and proceed to setting up the next template.

Notes
Note: You can clone the Regulatory templates by selecting one form the list and then clicking on Clone

You can also set a template as a Global option, meaning that it will be used as a base setting for all of your listings unless they have regulatory options assigned in their listing template or on a product level

II.  Assigning the General Product Safety Requirements templates to your listings

There are multiple ways you can assign the Regulatory templates to your products:

1. Assigning the Regulatory templates (which contain the GPSR data) to your products in Bulk

To assign a Regulatory template to your products in bulk, you will have to go to the Products page, click on the Product Actions drop-down and select Assign/Unassign eBay Regulatory template

On the pop-up window that follows, select the Regulatory template you would like to add to the selected products:

Revise the listing to apply the changes to eBay (please note: always select the "Everything else" option when revising the GPSR options)

2. Assigning the Regulatory templates (which contain the GPSR data) to your Listing Templates

By assigning the Regulatory templates to your Listing templates, you will be able to update all of the listings associated with the listing template within minutes.

a. First, you have to go to the Listing Templates page, by hovering the mouse over Listings (on the top menu) and then click on Listing templates
b. Then you'll have to edit the template to which you'd like to add the Regulatory template to.
c. When editing the listing template, you will notice a dropbox where you can select which Regulatory template you'd like to add to the listings associated with the Listing template.

d. Once you've selected the Regulatory Template you would like to use, do not forget to Revise the listings.

III. Assigning the Regulatory templates directly to single products:

If you go to the Products page and Edit any of the products, you will see the Item Disclosures section, right below the images.

There you can create a template directly, or you can select an existing template to add to your product.

Once added/selected, do not forget to Revise with the Everything Else option to apply the changes to eBay.

What if I have eBay General Product Safety Requirements already set up on eBay?

On the initial import from eBay, Ad-Lister will import your GPSR settings and create the templates for you.
If you have added the GPSR options on to the live listing on eBay, you can import the settings into Ad-Lister by going to the Listing page, select the listings and go to Actions and select Import product regulatory options.

Notes
Notes:
You can set a Regulatory template as a global option, meaning that Ad-Lister will use the information from that template by default for all of your listings.
This can be overwritten if there is another Regulatory template assigned to the products in the Listing template or if there are regulatory options set on a Product level.
Ad-Lister will also use part of the regulatory options as well, for example:
You can have the Responsible person set up as a Global option in a template and then just populate the rest of the options in the templates or on a product level.
